A few years back, I remember reading an article about Taco Bus - a new concept that was coming out of Florida. I expected them to be national soon, but soon forgot about them until I drove past this location during vacation. I made a point to eat there the next day. It appears they have about 15 or so locations around Tampa Bay and the region
A re-purposed yellow school bus has been assembled inside to give the allure of a food truck. With indoor and outdoor seating, pinball, cardboard mariachis and assorted Mexican beach items; Taco Bus is designed for the Instagram generation.
The food is ordered by category similar to Chipotle. Pick your type of food, then your type of tortilla, your meat, toppings, cheese, and extras. For $9 I had 2 flour tortillas with plenty of asada , covered in salsa, white cheese, sour cream and guacamole.
Better than most Mexican fast food and delivering a fun visual environment. I hope they are able to grow the concept far and wide so that I can mock them for being just another corporate chain. LOL! -

Worst tacos ever. I ordered 2 spicy chicken tacos, but what I got tasted like fish & mustard. There was very little chicken, a few stray pieces of fish, and piles of pico de gallo & cheese, all drenched in this awful watery mustard goop (I'm guessing a fish marinade? I've never tasted anything resembling mustard in any Mexican restaurant before). After half of one I threw the other away.
Churros were ok but nothing special - no topping or filling.
The guy calling out orders was extremely rude also.
First and last time at Taco Bus for me. -

Miserable experience trying to order. Loud music and an indifferent soft speaking teenager working the register. Plus I tried to pay for our $35 meal with a fifty dollar bill which she refused because " we get so many fakes". thanks for making your inability to discern a fake bill into your customer's problem.
This has the ethos of tourist schlock. The food was serviceable, the environment poor, the customer service terrible. -

This was my first time here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. The service was very fast which was awesome! I'd give it a 3.25 on the star scale because the food came out quickly and I liked the interior of the restaurant but I thought the tacos were a little bland and lacking that Mexican flavor. I liked that they had different vegetarian options.
We got three tacos: a butternut squash taco on soft corn, chicken on soft corn and chicken on hard corn. They were piled high with cabbage and pico. I liked how they heated up the corn tortillas. The squash wasn't bad. I wish it had more flavor but it was my favorite of the three.
They had a wide variety of menu options including tortas, tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. I think it'd be a good place after a night of drinking at one of the beach bars but if you wanted more flavor I think there would be other places to try.
